Comments on Perfection and Lying
From Things I'e Heard Vic Say, Volume 6
What happens if I am right? What happens if you don't need fixing? How
does life change if you don't need fixing?
- "If I am more loving it will be all right."
-
That's not the way it is. If you are right, you are loving. That is
automatic. You can't be loving to get right, but if you are right,
the way you act is loving.
- "Well, if I would communicate better"
-
No - you are not going to communicate your rightness. If you are right,
you will communicate better.
- "Well, if I tell the truth"
-
No - there are only two motives for lying. One is to escape punishment,
which all wrong people should have, and one is to impress people, which all wrong people
have to do because if you don't give them a false impression, they'll know how wrong you
are. So there are only two motives for lying. If you are right, those motives go away. So
you don't tell the truth to get right. If you are right, you tell the truth. And why?
Because telling the truth is the most efficient way to function. There is no reason to lie
if you are perfect.
If you're right there's no reason to impress people, therefore there is no reason to lie.
Also, if you're right, there's no one that can punish you. There are only two motives for
lying: escape punishment or to impress. There aren't any other ones.
If you have lied to the person you claim to be in love with once and that lie hasn't been
cleared up, the person who you think is in love with you is in love with somebody that
doesn't exist, and you can never trust them. The reason you can't trust yourself is
because you lie to yourself. The reason you can't trust another is because you lie to
them. The reason you can't trust everybody is because you give everybody a false opinion
of who you are. Now if they buy the false opinion then you accept the false opinion, that
then you are standing all by yourself.
Comments on Perfection and Freedom
From Things I've Heard Vic Say, Volume 6
There are literally millions of people, doctors, ministers, soothsayers, astrologers,
fortune tellers, palm readers, there is just this mountain of people who are selling ways
to get free. But only by understanding the perfection of you and the God who created you
is there any freedom in the world.
Comments on Enjoyment
From Things I've Heard Vic Say, Volume 6
The way to enjoy any specific incident in your life is to plan it, prepare for it, enjoy
planning and preparing for it, communicate about planning and preparing for it, and, if
you're lucky enough to have friends, do it with company. Have the experience, enjoy the
experience, communicate about enjoying the experience while it's happening, share it with
friend if you're lucky enough to have friends, and all the rest of that stuff. And then,
the third step is, after it's over, to examine it, clean up “ Its just like your senior
ball. Do you remember the three committees for a senior ball? Planning, dance committee,
and cleanup. I mean you learned that in school. That's not my information - that's
the way to enjoy an experience. That's everybody's information. You enjoy an experience
before, during and after. That's the way it happens. First you get a good excuse and then
you plan it and then you do it and then you reflect on it. It's called a party.
